Fanny Crosby was a blind, American woman living in the 19th century. Known as the “Mother
of Modern Congregational Singing,” she penned nearly nine thousand hymns, including favorites like
Blessed Assurance, Pass Me Not O Gentle Savior, and today’s anthem.

to your abundant love and compassion, and illuminating our understanding. May your
Spirit inspire our actions, leading us to live out your teachings with kindness and courage.
Transform us by your Word, so that we may contribute to the flourishing of all humanity,
in the name of Jesus who guides and sustains us. Amen.
