3.24.24 Palm Sunday Meredith Alspach The Rev. Annamarie Groenenboom The Rev. Dr. Seth Weeldreyer
With what shall I come before the Lord,
and bow myself before God on high?
Shall I come before God with burnt offerings, Shall I come before God with yearling calves?
Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil?
Shall I give God my firstborn for my transgressions, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
God has shown you, O man; God has shown you what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you
but to do justly and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly, walk humbly with your God?
Anthem God So Loved the World John Stainer
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish,
But have everlasting life.
For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world,
But that the world through Him might be saved.
Anthem Lord, Let My Heart be Good Soil Handt Hanson
Lord, let my heart be good soil,
open to the seed of your Word.
Lord, let my heart be good soil,
where love can grow and peace is understood.
When my heart is hard,
break the stone away.
When my heart is cold,
warm it with the day.
When my heart is lost,
lead me on your way.
Lord, let my heart be good soil.
Anthem My Soul’s Been Anchored in the Lord Trad. Spiritual, arr.
by Moses Hogan
My soul’s been anchored in the Lord. Before I’d stay in hell one day,
I’d sing and pray myself away. Lord, Hallelujah!
Going to shout and pray and never stop, until I reach the mountaintop.
Do you love him? Hallelujah, oh yes! Will you serve Him? Will you praise Him?
Lord, I love you, oh yes! Yes, I’ll serve you.
Anthem En Ego Campana Jacobus Handl (Gallus)
Behold, I am a bell, my words don’t lie
I laud the true God, I sound with ringing…
I call the people, I sound with ringing…
I gather the clergy…
I mourn death…
I annul the flashes of lightning…
I peal the Sabbath…
I arouse the slothful…
I scatter the winds…
I bring peace to the guilty…

The Briner Lectureship was established in memory of The Rev. Dr. Lewis A. Briner, former pastor of our congregation. He centered ministry in care for language, scripture, the arts,
and how they came together to touch people with good news in our world. In that spirit it is most fitting to welcome today Carrie Newcomer and Gary Walters.
